Parents, please note changes to the 2011-2012 Uniform Requirements
School Colors: Red, Black, White, and Gray
All students are required to wear the school uniform.
To Be Worn Any Day of the Week:
Pants, shorts, skirts, skorts—khaki colored in corduroy, cotton, and twill; no stretch knit material
Polo shirts—solid red, black, white or gray, with or without the school logo; must button at neck; must have a collar; plain, no ruffles or other decoration
Oxfort type Shirts— solid red, black, white or gray, with or without the school logo; must button at neck; must have a collar; plain, no ruffles or other decoration; short sleeved; ¾ sleeved; long sleeved
T-shirts—ONLY RCS t-shirts with official school logo sold at school may be worn
Sweaters, vests, hoodies, sweatshirts—plain or with the RCS logo only in school colors. Any shirt worn under sweatshirt must be school colors
Winter coats can be any color but must be removed and stored in the locker
No flip flops or high heeled shoes, no bedroom slippers
No camisoles or undershirts that show any color
No glitter, top stitched designs, decoration of any kind (other than school logo) on any article of clothing
No apparel which designates gangs or similar organizations
May be Worn on Fridays ONLY:
Jeans or jeans shorts or skirts—Blue jeans or black jeans ONLY with approved uniform top.
RCS Event/Athletic T-shirts—These can be music, sports, school-related events or Riverwood t-shirts.
Please note:
ALL clothing must be the appropriate size for the student. Baggy pants and shirts are not allowed nor is clothing that is too tight or too small. Skirts, skorts, and shorts should reach the tip of the student’s fingertips. If shirts are worn outside pants, they must not be longer than the wrist.
Students are expected to follow the dress code so that valuable instructional time is not spent examining student attire to determine appropriateness.
Parents and students will be notified of exceptions to the dress code (Olympics, special activities). Halloween is not an exception.
Uniforms are available from Land’s End and Buckhead Uniforms. Clothing, of approved colors and type, can be purchased at Target, Sears, Wal-Mart, Goodwill, etc. T-shirts and sweatshirts with the Ridgeview logo will be available at school throughout the year.
Discipline Cycle for Uniform Infractions:
1st time—Change of clothes, parent notification
2nd time—Change of clothes, silent lunch/break, parent notification
3rd time—Change of clothes, silent lunch/break, conference with Counselor and/or Graduation Coach, parent notification
4th Time—Change of clothes, public detention, parent notification
5th Time—Change of clothes, ISS, parent notification
